Taking photographs is my passion, obsession and life-long love!!  It was love at first sight at the ripe old age of 12.  I was absolutely mesmerized by the magical appearance of my first photograph coming to life in the liquid of the developer.  And I’ve been hooked ever since!

Taking photographs of dogs is even better.  I have photographed presidents, been published in magazines, newspapers and been on 60 minutes.  But nothing is more gratifying then capturing the essence of an animal, especially a dog.  For five years in a row, I threw an Annual Vizsla Pool Party(& Other Breeds) just so I could get some unique underwater images of the doggy paddle.  I am definitely a little over-the-top when it comes to anything dog.

I finally went digital just a year ago but still only shoot in black-and-white.  I rarely crop!  I stronglybelieve that the image should be correctly composed inside the viewfinder while on location.  I do not use the computer to manipulate my photos in any way, other than to tone or laboriously hand-paint thepieces.  My friend said there are two births to my photographs—one for the shooting and one for the painting.

My daughter once asked me, “Why don’t you just shoot in color Mom?”.  My explanation was simple, “Because you don’t get to pick the paint palette.”.  I believe the painting should enhance an aesthetically balanced and well composed image.  If you take away the color, the image should still be able to stand
on its own merit as a beautiful B&W photograph.

I hope you enjoy the images throughout the 2DOG archive!  If you don’t see your breed represented in the database, please feel free to inquire.  Most of the images are in the stay
Mor.com library and might not have been transferred yet.  If you would like to see other bodies of work, discuss a “pet project” or schedule a photo shoot feel free to call or e-mail me.   If I haven’t photographed your breed of dog yet, I would be happy to discuss the Fine Art Commission process with you to bring out the essence in (YOUR) Man’s Best friend.

I would relish any input or questions you might have about my work!
